Brett Moulding
Brett Moulding is currently the director of the Utah Partnership for Effective Science Teaching and Learning. He is a former member of the National Academy of Sciences Board on Science Education and a member of the National Research Council (NRC) Committee that developed A Framework for K-12 Science Education: Practices, Crosscutting Concepts, and Core. He was a member of the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) writing committee. He also serves on the NAEP Science Standing Committee.
Join us for a two-day professional learning opportunity focused on using scientific investigation to motivate students to read, write, and engage in academic discourse. Participants will engage in model lessons and acquire instructional tools for applying these practices into their classrooms. The instructional sequence of Gather, Reason, Communicate will be featured throughout the sessions and teachers will receive lesson plans to use in their own classrooms. Participants will have the opportunity to analyze and align one of their lessons and adapt it into a GRC lesson as well as participate in a series of live on-line 2-hour alignment sessions with Brett Moulding to advance their understanding of structuring instruction. All participants will receive a copy of the book Using Science Investigation to Motivate Students to Read, Write, and Engage in Discourse.
Join us for a two-day professional learning opportunity focused on instructional strategies to engage students in three-dimensional biology, chemistry, and/or physics learning. Participants will engage in model lessons and acquire instructional tools for applying these practices into their classrooms. The instructional sequence of Gather, Reason, Communicate will be featured throughout the sessions with participants learning how to engage students in biology, chemistry, and/or physics learning consistent with 3-dimensional science standards. Teachers will receive lesson plans to use in their own classrooms. Participants will have the opportunity to analyze and align one of their lessons and adapt it into a 3D-GRC lesson as well as participate in a follow-up live on-line 2-hour alignment session with Brett Moulding to advance their understanding of structuring instruction. All participants will receive a copy of the book Engaging Students in Science Investigation Using GRC.
