We are excited for our upcoming MCIU ELD Community Partner Fair & Instructional Symposium at our conference center in Norristown on May 16th. Our community partners, keynote, and presenters have all confirmed and this year’s event looks like it will be the place to be! Registration is open and will close on April 30th or when we hit our participant limit, so don’t wait! Once registration closes, sign-ups for individual concurrent learning sessions will be emailed to registered participants.

We have structured this day to be a robust day of learning and connection! We encourage teams to attend and hope that you will spread the word to others in your district that support multilingual learners and their families within your district.

Possible roles to consider include ELD Coordinators/Administrators, Principals, ESL Specialists, Guidance Counselors, Social Workers, Cultural Liaisons, Home and School Visitors, etc., to attend. This is a free event to member districts.

 Keynote Speaker: Jo Napolitano

Jo Napolitano spent nearly two decades reporting for The New York Times, Chicago Tribune and Newsday before winning a Spencer Education Fellowship to Columbia University in 2016: She was paid to attend the Graduate School of Journalism so she could write a long-form piece on young immigrants.

That story morphed into a book. The School I Deserve: Six Young Refugees and Their Fight for Equality in America was published by Beacon Press in Spring 2021. A sought-after public speaker, Napolitano lectures across the country about the often-overlooked potential of newcomer students.

She believes no child’s life should be left to chance.
